STUDENTS & COLLEAGUES WRITE

Maayan's workshop was incredibly helpful in giving form to the ideas and interests that I hadn't even realised that I already had! Through conversation, discussion, and a hands-on, just-try-it approach, Maayan helped my classmates and I articulate our thoughts both as artists and audience members. I'd recommend her teaching to anyone, but especially to those seeking to create new work.

An interesting choreographer, a physically-mentally articulated researcher and interlocutor. I recommend to anyone who is interested in an in-depth research of correlation between thought and composition.

Maayan’s teaching relies on a thorough and detailed movement inquiry, and guides the students to develop a mindful approach towards working with the body. Studying with Maayan I was able to understand what it needs to facilitate movement rather than DOING steps.

Her classes had a great impact on my understanding of movement, which resonates in me till today.

Maayan's two weeks workshop enriched and inspired me as a dancer. The fixed material as well as the improvisation based classes were smartly prepared and heartfully delivered. We had time to explore, we didn't rush over things but went every day straight into the essence. I gained deep connection to my body, enhanced self-awareness and gathered many great physical tools for solo improvisation. The lessons and her approach left me curious for more, in an open, stable and changeable body.

Investing into Maayan’s practice helped me to enhance body awareness, to locate my body in relation to the environment surrounding me and physically respond to it, which I found so relevant to what we do as movers. Practicing becoming attentive and continuously noticing while moving, I was encouraged to let go of what came in the way of engaging with a process of discovering and learning. Maayan is a generous person who is willing to share her profound knowledge of movement along the layers involved in composing while improvising.

Maayan proposes a very precise, personal and interesting work, which digs deep into parameters of dance and improvisation. She creates a real link between the way we prepare the body and engage in real time composition. The dancing comes from what we perceive through a state of great awareness by observing what is coming out of sensations, what is emerging. Such a deep approach gave me tools that I can apply to any corporeality and in any creative practice. Maayan also gives space to rise questions concerning the practice and exchange on the experiences it brings.

I have experienced deep connection with my body and mind in Maayan’s class. It was full of new challenging inputs and playful atmosphere during research. I enjoyed working on new material provided by Maayan, especially floor work, as well as having enough time to improvise and explore.
